Sat today listening to some of my favourite singers and songs on the YT, then sat trying to decide on which one of the 2 artists singing this particular song I liked the best , well I absolutely love Freddie Mercury he had so much energy and an amazing voice I never did get to see him live in concert and never will now of course ) : but looking at this vid of his concert in 1986 I missed something very special for sure, look at the audience they are loving it , so I have to give him a 9/10
moving next on to the vid with Bowie and guest singer Gail Ann Dorcey singing the same song , wow I have to admit I am more than impressed , I have to say I would give this version 10 out of 10 and mainly due to the vocals of Gail Anne, oh she hits some high notes there ! great talent, well maybe if she hadnt been on there with Bowie singing my vote would have stayed with Freddie ....just wondered what others think , ok back to YT for me just love the site .
I'd have to say I agree with your assessment of this particular song, but overall I would have to say I prefer Mercury.
Can't remember ever buying any Bowie albums, but I sure did like Queen.
I love YouTube too. (wow, say that three times out loud) A friend of mine saw my blog and noticed I posted videos and asked me "Aren't you afraid of getting popped for copyright violations?"
I told him that YouTube belonged to Google and that I didn't post the vids, just linked to them. I'd be willing to bet that most artists wouldn't care, either, as it's more exposure for them and the videos were not produced to make money, but to debut the songs to the public.
Well Alison, I cant hear this particular song, my PC has decided not to allow me (for Johnnie the computer says no!!!). In saying that I have to say Freddie everytime!!!! Like you I did not see a live performance but often watched Queen's concerts, what can you say, I dont think there will ever be a performer such as Freddie, electric, flamboyant, witty and a fab voice to boot.
Oh I knew you would say Freddie ! well I know you always liked him, flamboyant he was ! well you are right he had a fab voice , like I said I guess I chose Bowie this time only because of the girl singing with him , on is own it wouldnt have been a match to Freddies one would it , Thanks for posting ,speak again soon x
